Snow Angels to help Upton's elderly

A NEW volunteering scheme called ‘Snow Angels’ was announced last week in the Upton area of Chester.

The Snow Angels project will be launched on November 23rd and based in Upton and will involve people volunteering to help out the elderly during the cold winter months.

Being a Snow Angel will consist of a variety of tasks such as dog walking, picking up prescriptions, clearing snow paths and helping with other general day-to-day activities that the elderly can sometimes struggle with.

As well as equipment and protective clothing being provided to all volunteers, training will also be given at Upton Village Hall on the launch day of November 23rd and will take place between 2pm and 4pm.

Local Councillor Hilarie McNae, supporting the project, has said: ‘Partners in Altogether Upton have joined forces to support older people during the winter months and need your help.’

If you wish to book a place on the Snow Angels project or for any further information please contact Jan Walters on 01244 973225 or email cathy@snowangels.org.uk, or to find out more about 'Altogether Upton' visit www.altogether-upton.co.uk.
