Passengers que for the bus home at Chester bus station.[/caption]CHESHIRE West and Chester Council have been advising residents to have more of a say on the local transport as changes could be coming into affect soon.
The Council currently holds two different budgets, one of £7.51 million, which is set aside to use for transport for children to get to schools and colleges around the Chester area. The other budget of £1.7 million is used in helping approximately 428 adults in attending community services and day care. However the council say this might change and the public opinion is needed to help them gain a better understanding of what transport is important.
Councillor Lynda Jones, Executive Member of Commissioning, believes that with our economy currently suffering feedback is just what the council needs to makes the transport system better, she said; ‘It is vital that we make changes to ensure we are getting value for the taxpayer’s money.’
Consultations will be running for 12 weeks until 24th of January and will be open for the public to come along and find out information, as well as ask any questions, share any opinions on the transport system currently in place and what they feel needs to be done.
